When you look at me like that.
Sometimes I need to not look back at you when I catch you staring at me or making double takes. It’s like if I look at you, the moment would be too perfect. You will think that it’s not the right time, that you’ve just had your heart broken, that the shop is closed for the time being. And then all of a sudden, without realizing what has happened, you will be hovering over your cellphone waiting for a mid-workday sext with a fervor usually reserved...

Actions > Words, always. But when you get both (sweet, caring actions and words that’ll make you swoon) …damn, he’s a keeper.

I think we go searching not for love, but for security and comfort. We want to be able to come home to something/someone, and it makes us feel better about ourselves when we we can. And because we found that person, the security and comfort turns into ‘love.’ But through time and all of love’s twists & turns we accept the love we think we deserve. When really, we’re...

Part of the enduring beauty of sakura blossoms is that they don’t last forever. They’re a reminder to live in the here and now before the moment is past and gone for good, ichigo ichie. It’s a lesson we learn once a year, every year, and we forget it with the same regularity.

Long haul
so maybe the timing will never be right for us and your kids won’t be my kids. maybe we won’t fall in love or live in a foreign city together. but i’ll have you know this: i love you unconditionally, like only a friend can, and i’m here for the long haul. at 25 or 85, hopefully, you will still be my best friend.
